Guillain-Barre Syndrome

My sister, an Occupational Therapist, thinks that our youngest sister have it. Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS), a rare disorder of the nervous system , causes weakness that, may cause paralysis.

It has been three weeks. My sister R started being bothered by her numbing feet, then legs, then her face starts to get numb too. On some days, she could not even drive due to discomfort. Lately, she is feeling hot although her temperature remains in her baseline. She has lost some weight out of worry. Our mother is getting depressed.

I am going to work at 11 pm tonight. I will research more about the matter later. So far, her neurologist has not ordered a spinal tap to check if she has high protein levels in her cerebrospinal fluid--indicative of GBS.
